The state Department of Transportation and Washington State Patrol are searching for the owner of two dogs found along Interstate 5 this morning.

An incident response worker spotted the dogs on the shoulder of I-5 near Bridgeport Way in Lakewood. They were not in a vehicle.
“They were very friendly dogs,” trooper Guy Gill said. “They didn’t run away.”
The dogs got into the worker’s truck and she drove them off the freeway.
The dogs are now in the care of Lakewood animal control until their owner can be found.
Gill said the dogs were not wearing collars and didn’t have microchips.
“We have nothing to identify them at all,” Gill said.
He said they didn’t know if the dogs came from a neighborhood near the freeway or from a car that had been headed down I-5.
Troopers responded to a crash on I-5 around the time the dogs were found.
“But it was further south,” Gill noted.
