Tacoma police were checking out a home after gunshots rang out this afternoon on a Hilltop street.

Members of the department’s SWAT team planned to clear the home near South Ninth Street and Sheridan Avenue, police spokesman Mark Fulghum said.

Gunshots were fired in the area shortly after noon. The shooting sent Jason Lee Middle and Bryant Elementary schools into lockdowns.

Fulghum said no one appears to have been injured.

The investigation centered around a home. Most of the occupants had been cleared from the home.

The department’s SWAT team was going to finish searching the house.

And then what happened? Anyone in custody or are the gun-wielding folks still running around?

Well, at least there weren’t any fires, and that ain’t bad.
