Although the rains appear to have diminished today, a flood warning remains in effect for the Puyallup River above Orting.

The river crested this morning at 7,850 cubic feet per second and is expected to fall back below the flood threshold (4,500 cubic feet per second) tonight, according to the National Weather Service.

As of 2:45 p.m., the Puyallup River flow was 5,110 cubic feet per second.

Areas most impacted by the minor flooding are Neadham Road, Orville Road East, Tomolla Tree Farm area and areas south of Brooks Road East and north of Electron Road.

The Weather Service also has a flood watch in effect until Thursday afternoon for rivers in Pierce, Thurston, King, Lewis and Snohomish counties.

The snow level has dropped to about 3,000 feet and rain counts for the central Cascades range from 3-9 inches. The north Cascades and Olympics saw 2-5 inches during the storm.

A special weather statement affecting the passes and portions of Mount Rainier National Park says the risk of landslides is increased.

Thursday’s forecast is looking up: party sunny with a high near 50. But the rain is expected to return late Friday morning.
