The Eastside Neighborhood Advisory Council of Tacoma will host a candlelight vigil tonight for Susan Cox Powell and her two sons.

The vigil begins at 5:30 p.m. at McKinley Park, 907 Upper Park St. The event is scheduled to last an hour.

The young sons, 7-year-old Charlie and 5-year-old Braden, were killed Sunday in a house explosions. Investigators believe their father, Josh Powell, intentionally set the home on fire, killing himself and the boys.

“Remembering the beautiful lives of three very loved souls,” the council wrote. “Light a candle with us and float it across the pond in their memory.”

Neighbors in the Silver Creek area around Carson Elementary may soon be wearing purple ribbons to honor the memory of the Powell children. A local florist has offered to donate them, according to an online posting.
