Five men will be sentenced today for their roles in the random killing of 20-year-old Camille Love, who prosecutors claimed was shot by alleged gang members as they sought revenge against their rivals.
The hearings for Saul Mex, Jarrod Messer, Time Time, Eduardo Sandoval and Dean Salavea are scheduled to begin at 1:30 p.m. in front of Pierce County Superior Court Linda Lee.
Love, 20, was fatally shot and her brother, Josh, wounded as they drove down Portland Avenue the night of Feb. 7, 2010.
Prosecutors alleged the defendants were members of a gang and were out that night to seek revenge for an earlier shooting.
Prosecutors claimed the gang members stole a minivan and then picked Love’s car because of its red color, which is the color worn by the rival gang thought to have been responsible for the previous shooting. Josh Love also was wearing a red jacket.
Mex, the alleged shooter, pleaded guilty to first-degree murder. He faces 35 years in prison.
Sandoval, who prosecutors claimed acted as a lookout, was convicted by a jury of first-degree murder, first-degree assault and conspiracy to commit murder.
Salavea, who was accused of stealing the van from which the fatal shots were fired, pleaded guilty to leading organized crime.
Messer, suspected of driving the stolen van when the fatal shots were fired, pleaded guilty to first-degree murder and unlawful possession of a firearm. He faces 35 years in prison.
Time, who allegedly helped steal the van and acted as a lookout, pleaded guilty to one count of leading organized crime and faces more than 12 years in prison
And they can go to prison with the gang.
