Pierce County prosecutors have charged a 33-year-old suspected of robbing three banks over the past several weeks.

Vladimir N. Shcherenkov was arraigned Friday on two counts of first-degree robbery in connection with two of the three heists. He was ordered held in Pierce County Jail in lieu of $150,000 bail.

Court documents outline three bank robberies in Pierce County since Dec. 11. A Pierce County sheriff’s detective suspects Shcherenkov is responsible for all three. Prosecutors were waiting for additional details before charging Shcherenkov in one of the cases.

The U.S. Bank in the 11000 block of Canyon Road East was robbed Dec. 11 by a man dressed as a woman. The robber said little and handed the teller a note that demanded $4,000 cash. The robber left in a maroon car.

The Chase Bank in the 6300 block of Bridgeport Way West was robbed Dec. 23. The bandit wore glasses and a purple jacket.

Again, the robber didn’t speak. He handed the teller an envelope and a note that demanded $4,000 cash.

The Columbia Bank in the 10400 block of Canyon Road East was held up Jan. 14.

The robber wore a blonde wig and heavy makeup. Again, the bandit hardly said a word. He handed the teller a note on the back of a magazine. The note demanded $4,000 cash.

Investigators narrowed in on Shcherenkov, who has four previous convictions for bank robberies in Pierce County.

He was arrested Thursday. Investigators served several search warrants and found clothing, a costume beard and sideburns, sunglass and receipts for a costume shop and Goodwill.

Serial check writing is considered an addiction; Meth., is considered an addiction; serial drunk driving is considered an addiction; serial raping of females is being considered an addiction; serial dieting is considered an addiction; infinitum; so, why not serial bank robbery as a addiction? After all, the experts in the revelent psychological fields know, that particularized treatment will resolve most all of these social aberrations. However, the penal industrial complex has a vested interest in social unacceptable behaviors continuing unabated. That is, until abated. The Department of Correction, DOC, probably has the largest budget of all state of Washington agencies. It is,where the monies for schools go.
