Strong wind gusts overnight knocked out power to some Puget Sound-area residents.

Tacoma Public Utilities reports that it has restored power to its customers that lost electricity overnight.

Puget Sound Energy reported that gusts of up to 80 mph in some places left 10,000 customers without electricity. The utility reported at 11 a.m. that it was working to restore power to those customers and was still on track to turn the lights back on by the end of the day for customers who have been in the dark since last week.

Peninsula Light Co. crews have been working on outages in its service area. Early today, they restored power to 76 customers in the Lake Holiday area as well as to homes south of Key Center.

Last night, crews restored power to 820 customers in the Point Fosdick, East Bay and airport areas after lines were knocked down.
