Washington State Patrol troopers arrested a 60-year-old woman on suspicion of drunken driving this morning after she drove 17 miles the wrong way on Interstate 5 to Joint Base Lewis-McChord.

The woman had stopped and was blocking an intersection – without her car’s lights on – in Tumwater before she got on the highway, trooper Guy Gill tweeted.

The woman got on I-5 and went north in the southbound lanes. At times, she was going more than 100 mph, Gill reported.

Gill added that there were several times the woman nearly hit other cars. Spike strips were used to stop the car and the woman was taken into custody.

No injuries were reported.

‘Near Olympia? I’m sure it was Gov. Christine. She’s been going the wrong direction for years. Maybe we should drop some spike strips near the Capitol.

    Nice one Johnson

  3. ManuelMartini says:

Yeah, we need more leadership like Richard Debolt(R), who gets tax breaks for his company to “save jobs” and then watches 600 people get laid off.

  4. basrouge says:

Drivers education should be mandatory for anyone over 55 to get their licenses renewed. What was this lady doing driving that far in the wrong direction going that fast!?! That’s scary as hell.

  5. @basrouge That isn’t a driver’s education issue, that is a criminal issue… 100mph just doesn’t pass the “oops” test.

  6. Rowdy_Rob says:

The drastic measures some people will go through to get their “Matlock” fix…

  7. basrouge –
How exactly do you figure drivers ed is the solution to drunk drivers? She was arrested for DUI, the fact she was 60 has nothing at all to do with the problem. A drunk driver is a drunk driver – doesn’t matter if it’s a he or she or if the age is 21 or 86.
The sad news is she’ll get a handslap – and be driving again in no time. Right now, we don’t punish drunk drivers until after they kill somebody. We need tougher laws and punishments that get drunks off the streets before they kill somebody.

17 miles – going more than 100mph at times- the wrong way on the freeway… I’m sorry 60 or not, that is highly impressive driving. You see on cops all the time theres a lot of punk kids that couldn’t do that going the right way on the freeway w/o flipping their car. I’m usually all for more testing past a certain age – but I don’t think she is a poster “child” for that cause.

  9. Wrapper98439 says:

Fix the DUI laws and then work on the punishment. Punishment will not get better if it means locking someone up for 10 years because they wanted to sleep in their legally parked car.

  10. My Dad always used to say we should have two sets of roads. One for women, and one for people who know how to drive.

  11. sirlancealot says:

And alex how old were you when your parents got divorced?

  12. buttmanroad says:

That’s Amazing no one got hurt.

  13. gonefishin69690 says:

LMO @t_johnson. I’ll bet her GPS told her to.

  14. ItalianSpring says:

    And still failed to signal…..

  15. serendipity says:

I hate it when I do that. I also hate the fact I am sober when I do that.

  16. In a show of support for the Gov, she put her left turn signal on at the Capital.

    Is this a state justice?

  18. sirlancealot,
My Parents both had a great sense of humor. Sadly most liberals are always enraged and have none. It’s why they are always miserable.

  19. sirlancealot says:

    Alex.
Assuming you are referring to me not having a sense of humor or being a liberal, wrong on both accounts. I’m actually a professional comedian and also a religious conservative. How ironic.

However, I am a woman with a perfect driving record. The only wreck I ever had was from some blow hard guy who rear ended me. With his car.
