Pierce County Sheriff’s spokesman Ed Troyer reports that stranded visitors at Mt. Rainier National Park are being evacuated in small groups with armed escorts. The visitors – estimated at 125, plus 17 staff members – were kept from leaving earlier while a manhunt for a gunman who shot park ranger Margaret Anderson continued. Troyer said the departing visitors will go to the Ashford Fire Department.
