A man was badly injured this afternoon when hit by a car near the intersection of South 11th Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Way, Tacoma police reported.

The man was walking across 11th Street mid-block about 2 p.m. when hit by the car, officer Mark Best said. The driver stopped and was cooperating with police.

The pedestrian suffered serious injuries and was transported to Madigan Army Medical Center for treatment, Best said.

Officers remain on the scene investigating.

I was there when this happened. The man had a severe head injury and Madigan is one of the leading hospitals that deal with head trauma. I keep checking to see if there is an update on the mans condition. But so far no luck. :(
