Fife police have arrested two men suspected of stealing more than 40 guns from a Fife sporting goods store earlier this month.

Fife Police Commander Tim Floyd reports that the suspects were arrested after police served search warrants on two private residences and two vehicles over the past day and a half.

Police said one 21-year-old suspect will be charged in Pierce County court on Friday. The second man, age 32, is being held on unrelated warrants and remains under investigation.

So far, only three of the missing guns have been recovered, Floyd said.

“The next step is trying to collect more information from the suspects and some of material we gathered last night with service of the search warrants,” Floyd said.

“We’re hoping we can find several if not all of the missing weapons,” he added.

Floyd said the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) assisted Fife Police throughout the investigation.

Two men – one of them in a Santa hat – broke into Sportco, 4602 20th St. E., on Dec. 17 and stole about $21,000 worth of merchandise in just minutes, police said.
