Tacoma police were searching for a man who robbed a South End convenience store early today at gunpoint.

The robber walked into the Shell gas station at 8433 S. Hosmer St. about 12:15 a.m., police reported.

He wielded a handgun and demanded money from the clerk. After the robbery, the suspect left the store and fled on foot, police reported.

The man was described as white and 6 feet tall. He wore dark glasses, a dark hat, gray hooded-style sweatshirt and blue jeans.

No further description was immediately available.
