Pierce County prosecutors have filed murder charges against a Tukwila woman accused of intentionally hitting and killing her friend on a Tacoma street Friday night.

Denise Larkins pleaded not guilty to second-degree murder during her arraignment this afternoon. She was ordered held in Pierce County Jail in lieu of $1 million bail.

During the hearing, Larkins’ defense attorney expressed concern about her mental health.  A competency hearing was ordered, according to News Tribune courts reporter Adam Lynn.

Prosecutors allege Larkins hit and killed Michelle Johnson, 45, Friday night hear South 43rd and J streets in Tacoma. The two had been arguing.

    Are they still considered friends?

I wonder what kind of friends they are if their argument gets that heated? Very sad.

Everybody lost here, the victim the most. Everything she had and everything she’ll ever have. The perp murdered her friend, her freedom, and self-respect. She lost herself. Then there’s the taxpayers…

The positive is this didn’t go “cold case” and she’ll be off the streets. Way to go Tacoma PD !!! Cleaning-up Tacoma … One loser at a time.

If you need a “Vision” for Tacoma, how about city where it’s relatively safe to walk around after dark. Appropriate/invest money in that…Business will return/boom.

Most of you don’t remember New York in the 70′s. It wasn’t pretty. Then some people decided to focus on making the city safe and the New York Renaissance took root. Lower crime rates bring in investment and consummers. Would you want to go shopping in east Oakland, East St.Louis, or Detroit!

    It’s just Oakland
