Woman hit by car and killed while walking along Tacoma street

A woman walking along a Tacoma street tonight died after being hit by a car, police reported.

The collision occurred about 8:20 p.m. at South 43rd and South J streets, police spokesman Mark Fulghum said.

The woman driving the car left the scene but later was arrested, Fulghum said.

Further details were not available at press time.
