A Pierce County storage company will be participating in a food drive to honor four Lakewood police officers who were killed two years ago today.
A Storage Center will collect donations for the second annual Fallen Officers Food Drive, which starts today. Donations can be dropped off at the business’ two locations: 220 E. 112th St. in Parkland and 15413 First Ave. Ct. S. in Spanaway, according to a press release. A Storage Center is offering a $1 rental credit for each nonperishable food item that is donated.
The food drive was created last year in memory of Lakewood police Sgt. Mark Renninger and officers Tina Griswold, Ronald Owens and Greg Richards. The four were gunned down the morning of Nov. 29, 2009, as they sat inside a Forza Coffee Co. shop in Parkland.
The families of the four officers will be taking part in this year’s food drive. They will be outside the Lakewood Police Department today to accept cash and food donations.
The food drive ends Monday.
