The Fife Police Department and Pierce County DUI Victim Impact Panel will dedicate a sign today to a 3-month-old baby boy killed by a drunken driver in 2010.

The dedication will start at 1 p.m. at the corner of 20th Street East and 70th Avenue East.

Jayden Thomas Wayman died two days after he was critically injured in a crash Jan. 24, 2010.

Prosecutors alleged Matthew Ryan Hamilton ran a red light at the intersection of 20th Street East and 70th Avenue East in Fife. He hit a car carrying Jayden.

Hamilton was convicted of vehicular homicide last year and was sentenced to more than nine years in prison.

  1. Thank Goodness. It’s way overdue. The Family deserves this & more. Fife finally stepped up. I was hit at that same intersection in 1980, Thank God I wasn’t killed. Totalled my car & you know what the city gave me? A ticket in the mail. Can’t wait to see the sign! RIP baby Jayden.
