Snow closes two Cascade passes

Two mountain passes in the Cascades have been closed because of heavy snow and high winds.

The State Transportation Department says Highway 410 through Chinook Pass is closed from milepost 74.5 near Morse Creek to milepost 57.5 near Crystal Mountain Blvd.

Highway 123 through Cayuse pass is also closed, from the junction with Highway 410 to milepost 5.4 near Stevens Canyon Road.

Highway officials say Chinook Pass will remain closed though at least Sunday.
Heavy snowfall and strong winds are creating drifting snow and very poor visibility.
