A memorial service for Bonney Lake murder victim Mary Mushapaidzi is set for Saturday at Fircrest United Methodist Church, 1018 Columbia Ave.

The service begins at 3 p.m.

Friends have established a fund in Mushapaidzi’s name at Bank of America. Money raised for the fund will go toward helping her children, 8 and 2.

Mushapaidzi, a native of Zimbabwe, died earlier this month. Pierce County prosecutors contend her boyfriend, Mthulisi Ndlovu, beat her with one half of a pair of long-handling pruning shears then burned her body in a barrel.

Ndlovu has pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder.
