A 19-year-old convicted sex offender wanted for shooting and injuring a man over the weekend turned himself in to Tacoma police tonight.
Brian David Rivas surrendered at police headquarters.
The shooting occurred about 7:30 p.m. Saturday in the 5400 block of South J Street.
Witnesses told police that Rivas arrived at the victim’s home looking for him and was talking to the victim and a woman on the front porch when Rivas pulled a gun out of his jacket and shot the man in the head.
The victim is expected to survive.
Rivas is a transient and has a criminal record that includes first-degree rape of a child, according to a bench warrant for his arrest.
