Yelm Community Schools will open two hours late today because of a power outage.

The outage initially impacted about 17,000 customers in Olympia, Yelm, Roy, Spanaway, east Thurston County and south Pierce County, KIRO TV reports. The station now reports most of those customers have their electricity back on. About 5,300 are still without power in the Yelm area.

KIRO reports the outage was caused by a crash on state Route 702 near Roy.
