One person died and another was in critical condition after a high-speed rollover accident in Frederickson on Saturday night.

The vehicle left the roadway and crashed about 9 p.m. at the intersection of Canyon Road East and 187th Street, said Randy Stephens, assistant chief for Central Pierce Fire and Rescue. No other vehicles were involved.

The names and ages of the two occupants weren’t immediately available, but Stephens described them as younger males.

One died at the scene, and another was transported to St. Joseph Medical Center in Tacoma in critical condition, he said.

The cause of the accident is unknown at this time, Stephens said, although speed appears to be a factor.

The Pierce County Sheriff’s Office is investigating.

No other details were immediately available late Saturday.
