A young man was shot and killed in Tacoma early this morning at a large party in the 1600 block of Center Street.

According to Tacoma Police, the shooting occurred just after 5 a.m. at a gathering of at least 100 people who had gathered at an empty building for a party after closing time at bars.

Tacoma Police spokesman Mark Fulghum said the victim, aged 17 or 18, was shot at least twice. Attempts at CPR were unsuccessful.

“The victim came to the party to check on somebody who was there and got into an argument with one or more people,” Fulghum said. “As he was leaving, shots were fired.”

Police have so far made no arrests, Fulghum said.

Interviews with witnesses have been continuing since the incident occurred Fulghum said, and they are likely to continue for most of Saturday.
