Flags will be lowered today at all state agencies for a U.S. Army sergeant from Tacoma who was killed in a helicopter crash Aug. 6 in Afghanistan.

Sgt. Alexander J. Bennett, 24, was assigned to the 7th Battalion, 158th Aviation Regiment (General Support Aviation Battalion) in Kansas. He was one of 30 service members aboard a CH-47 Chinook helicopter when it crashed in Wardak province in Afghanistan.

Gov. Chris Gregoire ordered flags at half-staff until the end of today or first thing Wednesday morning.
