Troopers are searching for a man who shot and injured two teenagers during a road-rage incident early today on state Route 167 in Pierce County.

The same bullet struck both victims – an 18-year-old man and a 17-year-old girl. Both were treated and released from a local hospital, the Washington State Patrol reported.

The shooting took place shortly after 2 a.m.

The victims were going south on SR 167 near state Route 410 when another vehicle drove up behind them and passed their vehicle. The suspect drove in the left inside shoulder area and nearly caused a crash, troopers reported.

The victims got off SR 167 at SR 410 and headed toward Sumner. The male driver of the other vehicle reportedly rolled down the passenger side window and fired a shot at the victims.

The bullet went through a passenger door, hit the man in the forearm and then struck the girl in the back.

The suspect continued south on SR 167. The vehicle is described as a black, newer model Mazda 6.  The suspect was described as white with dark hair and no facial hair.

Troopers ask anyone with information about the shooting to call detectives at 253-538-3172.
