Kent police today served search warrants at four medical marijuana dispensaries that were warned in June to close or lose their business licenses and face possible criminal charges.
The city said it recently mailed a second round of cease and desist notices to the dispensaries.
Police last week confirmed marijuana was still being sold at the four businesses and obtained search warrants. During the searches today, officers said they seized drugs, computers, cell phones, security devices and weapons.
Kent Mayor Suzette Cooke blamed the ambiguous state law for placing the city in a “precarious position.”
“We cannot just stand by while activity that is illegal under state and federal law occurs in the city,” Cooke said in a statement.
