A 28-year-old Tenino man is in critical condition at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle after his 1985 GMC pickup rolled on Skookumchuck Road in Thurston County on Saturday night.

According to the Washington State Patrol, Michael L. Hart was driving the truck westbound on Skookumchuck Road when it left the roadway on the right shoulder near Northcraft Road. Hart overcorrected, sending the truck sideways into the eastbound lane and shoulder. The truck rolled, and came to rest on its wheels.

Hart was not wearing his seat belt and was ejected out the truck’s passenger-side window. He was transported to Harborview.

The State Patrol continues to investigate the crash and whether drugs or alcohol were involved.

Trooper Ma Kayla Morgan said that the man’s injuries could have been prevented if he had worn his seat belt.
