UPDATE: Police say an adult woman and young man were found inside a North End home this afternoon.

No information on the victims’ identities or cause of death were immediately available.

The bodies were found about 2 p.m. after one of the woman’s co-workers called police and asked them to check on her because she hadn’t shown up for work for a few days.

“Officers went inside and located the two bodies,” police spokesman Mark Fulghum said.

Police said the woman is in her mid-50s and the man is 18-20.

Neighbors said the woman lived alone and was often seen gardening in front of the well-kept gray home. Her son sometimes came to mow the grass.

Fulghum said it is too soon to discuss possible relationships between the victims or what could have happened.

“We have to figure out what’s going on,” he said.

INITIAL POST:

Tacoma police detectives have launched an investigation into the deaths of two people at a home in North End.

Investigators were looking into the circumstances of the deaths at North 30th and Proctor streets.

“What the circumstances are we don’t know yet,” Tacoma police spokesman Mark Fulghum said this afternoon.

We’ll update this post when more information becomes available.

Nice neighborhood. Sad this stuff is happening so close to my home.

  2. jake840 says:

I wonder if it is at one of those kind of trashy homes on the corner?

  3. tree_guy says:

The guy on the right looks like Gaylord Focker.

  4. schipperke says:

Your comment on it’s own accord is “kind of trashy”.

  5. _MONTE_ says:

Whoa – I’m like 6 blocks from there!

    ~ RIP ~

  6. _MONTE_ says:

Jake – there are NO trashy home on the corner of 30th and Proctor.

  7. Good grief….I was raised on 31st and Madison….it was so quiet.and conservative…

  8. stoermer says:

At _MONTE_ – I think Jake is referring to the homes on the east side of Proctor just past the intersection at 30th when heading north. I’ve been inside one of those houses on a few occasions and they are pretty run down.

All that aside, hope this was just a terrible accident!

  9. serendipity says:

I live on the east side and this just proves anything can happen anywhere. Just had this discussion today with a nice young man at a seminar to assist the disabled find jobs. He lived in Oakland. We are both a bit wired in our central nervous systems. Remember that at one point, Tacoma ranked as high as Oakland for crime per capita.

  10. fairdog says:

Monte, are you a Tacoma native, inured to dumps in the neighborhood. The house on the northeast corner of of 30th and Proctor is a sty, an eyesore. The broken down vehicles that commonly populate the property along with the junk and garbage is a dead give away that this a “kind of trashy home”.

  11. duckfan4ever says:

There may be a trashy home on that corner, but who said that is where the bodies were found? A Pierce County Superior Court Judge also lives on the corner of North 30th and Proctor, as does a Pierce County District Court Judge across the street. Because of the less than aggressive reporting by The News Tribune, we still further information as to either the specific location of the home involved, nor of the identities of the deceased.

  12. What is the relevance of the fact that two judges live in the vicinity, and how does that exclude the possibility of there being any trashy homes nearby? Or is duck saying judges cannot possibly have trashy homes?

  13. frogfaced says:

the picture looks like it is of a green house. Is that the trashy one? I really don’t look at the houses. I just think of it as a nice neighborhood.

  14. fatuous says:

The house is about the third one on right located on N 30th between Proctor and Monroe streets.

I never thought the house looked trashy.

  15. T_Town_Fan says:

I live not far from there and drove by the scene. Its on 30th midway between Proctor and Mason. A very nice, well kept house.

  16. fatuous says:

Looks about like 3916 North 30th and the fifth or sixth house.

  17. rockhead56 says:

Come on you jug heads, two people died. Is this argument really relevant to anything. Get a life!

  18. stealth says:

    rockhead56

Good call! Last time I checked this wasn’t a real estate blog.

  19. skippythedog says:

Tax records show Jaqueline Hensler, 55 owns the home.

  20. tacomajoe says:

Maybe this really happened at SOUTH 30th & Proctor, because judging by these posts it is clearly illegal to kill anyone north of 6th Avenue in Tacoma.

And if the people in this neighborhood were genuinely swank, they would have moved to Seattle long ago. Get with it, people.

  21. JessicaW71970 says:

Wow, so a woman and a man are dead, no details released, but instead of wondering how and why this tragedy happened in the North End, or any part of PIERCE COUNTY for that matter, the posters here are discussing how the swank should be living in Seattle, how things such as this are more common in the South Tacoma / East Tacoma area and how the house looks: up-kept ~vs~ trashy, this is really quite sad to me. Deaths / murder / manslaughter /and the likes are pretty common all over Pierce County be they by the hand of another or natural causes, I have known of several people that had been murdered in their lovely North Tacoma Homes, to type the things that many of you have is just pretty awful and petty. I don’t know this family, I don’t even live in that part of Tacoma anymore, but it saddens me just the same to have such speculation about the lives that have been ended all too soon.

  22. sammysmom says:

Does it really matter if the house is “trashy”, or that it is “well-kept” (as the article stated)? What does that have to do with anything?? Two people are dead — Jackie, a very smart and competant R.N. who has worked at our local hospitals for many years — she also happens to be a friend and co-worker of mine. She no longer has any family that may read your hurtful, ignorant and rude comments posted here; but as her friend, I certainly DON’T appreciate your lack of compassion for other human beings. This could have happened to any one of you, your friends, or family. If you don’t have anything worthwhile to post, then please keep your b.s. to yourself. Thank you.
