A Tacoma man convicted of killing his 23-month-old daughter last year has been sentenced to more than 23 years in prison.

Pierce County Superior Court Judge Katherine Stolz handed down the sentence to Andrew Houston III this afternoon.

Houston, 25, pleaded guilty in February to one count of second-degree murder in the death of Briyana Houston. He admitted he inflicted fatal injuries on the girl in July 2010. He told investigators he was frustrated over financial issues and the girl’s refusal to eat her dinner, court records show.

Doctors who examined Briyana before she died told detectives the girl had retinal hemorrahaging, skull fractures and severe brain injuries consistent with being violently shaken and hit with something blunt, the records show.

Should of got more prison time.

IF he spends every minute of this sentence, he will be 50yo when he is released. And his daughter would have been 25yo. The age he is now.

I hope he thinks about it that way.

Two lives destroyed and wasted. And all the other souls affected by this stupid cruel IMMATURE act.

They should keep photographs of the baby hanging on his little cell wall.

    Rot. And be thinking.

Really people ? Why is it that no one asked the mother how much time she spent with the kids when he went to work at the base? Why is it that he was marrying her in 2 months? The right questions have not been asked nor answered!

A year for every month – Just not enough! Strike one and YOU’RE OUT!!! No plea deals when the crimes are against children!
