Pierce County prosecutors will be charging 11 suspected members and associates of a Lakewood street gang that’s been involved in an array of crimes, from murder to drug dealing, in the Tillicum community over the past several years.

The charges against the suspected members and associates of the Tillicum Park Gangsters were announced today by Prosecutor Mark Lindquist. Each of the defendants is accused of unlawful delivery of a controlled substance. Two others also are charged with first-degree robbery. Nine of them are in custody and scheduled to be arraigned today.

The crackdown on the Tillicum Park Gangsters comes after an investigation by the Lakewood Police Department and the South Sound Gang Task Force. The agencies were looking into gang-related crimes between October and May.

“Members of TPG have committed numerous crimes in the Tillicum community, including murder, drive-by shootings, narcotics trafficking, weapons violations, and witness intimidation,” a press release states. “At least 12 other TPG members have been sent to prison over the last five years, the majority for violent crimes.”

This is the third sizable prosecution against Pierce County streets gangs since the beginning of 2010. Thirty-four suspected members and associates of the Tacoma’s Hilltop Crips were prosecuted for various crimes over the past year.

Cases against 19 alleged members of the Eastside Lokotes Surenos are pending. Those charges stem from three homicide investigations in Tacoma last year.
