Tacoma police will forward their investigation into a crash Saturday that killed a popular University Place assistant principal to Pierce County prosecutors for review.

Bryan Beale, 37, was killed Saturday morning when the motorcycle he was riding struck an SUV at the intersection of South 12th and South Stevens streets. Witnesses reported the driver of the SUV ran a red light, police have reported.

Neither drugs nor alcohol appeared to have been a factor, police reported. The SUV driver was not arrested or cited at the scene.

Police investigators will wait for prosecutors to review the findings of the deadly crash before making a decision on whether to charge – or cite – the SUV’s driver, police spokesman Mark Fulghum said.

Beale was the assistant principal at Drum Intermediate School.

A celebration of Beale’s life is set for 1 p.m. May 14 at the University Place Presbyterian Church, 8101 27th Street W.

Beale’s parents plan to set up a scholarship fund in lieu of flowers; details on that account will be forthcoming, family friend Tom Edwards said.

  2. levesque says:

A redight runner, a fatality and the SUV driver wasn’t cited at the scene? That’s bogus.
My prayers go out to the family of this young man.

Who wants to lay odds that the idiot driving the SUV, was on his/her cell phone?

  4. MommaK says:

He needs to pay for what he did. He killed a man, and not just any man! He has taken away a man that was a prize to Washington State! We need to show these kids that it is not okay to do this and think that they can get away with it! What is that showing them??

  5. David1964 says:

The reason why he has yet to be charged is because they need to review the information in order to know what to charge him with.

I see so many red light runners, shame on all of you!
