A 35-year-old man convicted of shooting a 2-year-old girl during a Tacoma road rage incident last year has been sentenced to 15 years, nine months in prison.

Pierce County Superior Court Judge Ronald Culpepper handed down the sentence to Sauni “Johnny” Misi this afternoon.

Misi pleaded earlier this month to first-degree assault, drive-by shooting and two counts of third-degree assault in connection with the Jan. 17, 2010, incident.

Prosecutors alleged Misi fired at a car carrying the girl and her parents after he and the girl’s father exchanged gestures and engaged in aggressive driving in the 8400 block of Pacific Avenue. The girl, who was seated in a car seat in the back, suffered an injury to her thigh.

Misi could have been sentenced to up to 19 years, three months, under the standard sentencing range.

  1. He could have been sentenced up to 19 years, but only got two… Is that with time served? What a travesty of justice!! See, there we go with those darn plea bargains….

What fear and hardships will this little girl have to endure the rest of here life due to this incident!
15 seems light for a sentence!
Road Rage is ‘surely abundant’ in this region to say the least.

There is NO excuse for any type of road rage. Especially when there is an innocent child involved. I think he deserved the full 19 years and 3 months sentence.
