Kent police are looking for a man suspected of trying to lure a young girl into his vehicle today outside Neeley O’Brien Elementary School.

The man – described as middle-aged and dark-skinned with thinning hair and an unshaven face – was last seen about 12:30 p.m. leaving the school in a dark green van.

The girl was crossing an open plaza on her way to a portable classroom when the man drove his van over from an adjoining parking lot and yelled, “Get in here.”

Police scoured the neighborhood after the girl ran into a nearby classroom and reported the incident to a staff member. The man has not been found.

Other schools in the area have been notified of what happened and school safety officers are working with police to increase patrols when kids are on campus.

Anyone with information on the luring is asking to call the Kent Police Department at 253-856-5800.
