Tacoma firefighters battled a house fire this afternoon in the 500 block of E. 50th Street.
The blaze was reported just after 4 p.m. Arriving crews reported seeing flames and smoke from the second story and eaves of the 1,882-square-foot home.
Firefighters extended about 700 feet of hose from a nearby fire hydrant to the fire engine and attacked the flames with hand lines.
No one was home when the blaze broke out and the cause is under investigation.
