Foss High School, 2112 S. Tyler St., was nearly locked down shortly before noon today as school security chased a former student who was trespassing on campus.

Tacoma School District spokesman Dan Voelpel said a school resource officer spotted the former student who had been trespassed from campus meaning that if heĀ  was on school grounds he faced a charge of criminal trespassing.

The resource officer and other security chased the former student who jumped over a fence to flee campus. Tacoma police also were called.

Later, another student spotted the trespasser inside a portable where he was arrested by police.

Voelpel said there was some talk of locking down the school during the initial chase but it wasn’t done after the ex-student left campus.
