A memorial service for a Pierce County sheriff’s deputy who died last week will be held Friday at the Champions Centre in Tacoma.

Shandon Wright, 29, died Thursday night at his South Hill home, less than 24 hours after undergoing shoulder surgery for an on-duty assault that occurred in August.

The Medical Examiner’s Office has not yet ruled on a cause of death.

Wright was a 5-year veteran of the department and leaves behind a wife and 2-year-old daughter.

The service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at Champions Centre, 1819 E. 72nd St.

Donations to Wright’s family can be made at the Pierce County Deputies Guild website, www.pcdsguild.com.
