Here is what is open and closed while BNSF crews work to clean up a train derailment near Chambers Bay Golf Course, according to Pierce County communications director Hunter George:

CLOSED: Snow has closed Chambers Bay Golf Course. It will reopen Monday, weather permitting.

CLOSED TO PUBLIC ACCESS DUE TO THE DERAILMENT: Central Meadow (the big park by the water), the Bridge to the Beach (pedestrian bridge over the tracks) and Soundview Trail (the lower trail)

OPEN: Chambers Bay Grill, Grandview Trail (the portion of trail that runs along the top of the bluff)

This incident is being misreported. Only one train was involved, the northbound train. One car broke a wheel causing the car to tip over and dragging other connecting cars with it.

The BNSF is currently pumping out the tanker cars while they are still in the water so as to prevent a major spell of any potentially hazardous material. The situation is under control and all is well.
