An Auburn man was taken to the hospital Saturday evening with a broken leg and internal injuries after losing control of his motorcycle on Interstate 5 near Chehalis, according to the Washington State Patrol.

According to the State Patrol:

Juan Santana Alvarez, 34, and a passenger were traveling north about 5:45 p.m. when Alvarez lost control of his motorcycle due to windy conditions as he approached a sweeping curve.

The motorcycle, a 1997 Suzuki VZ800V, struck the concrete center barrier and Alvarez was ejected over the barrier and landed in the southbound lanes.

He then jumped over the barrier and came to rest on the inside shoulder of the northbound lanes. Alvarez was wearing a helmet. The motorcycle was totaled.
