A suspected drunken driver is in critical condition after crashing near Parkland and having her car roll on top of her, said Pierce County Sheriff’s spokesman Ed Troyer.

The woman was heading north in the 9700 block of Vickery Avenue when she lost control of her 1990 Toyota Corolla and swerved.

“She was ejected and the car landed on her,” Troyer said.

A witness reported the crash at 3 p.m. The woman, who allegedly has past convictions for driving under the influence, was taken to Tacoma General Hospital.

She was wearing her seat belt improperly and deputies could smell alcohol emitting from her and her car, Troyer said.
