The King County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the apparent drowning of a man in Quartermaster Harbor, on the southeast side of Vashon Island.

According to Sheriff’s spokesman Sgt. John Urquhart, the man was in his mid-60’s and lived on his 30-foot sailboat, which was moored to a buoy in the harbor.

A friend of the victim came down to visit him about 10:50 a.m. Saturday, Urquhart said.

The friend said he found the man tangled in the rope of his inflatable boat near the boat launch which is near the marina.

There were no signs of foul play, Urquhart said. The victim’s identity has not yet been released.
