A 17 year-old Seattle girl died  in a traffic accident Tuesday night, the King County Sheriff reports.

She was a passenger in a 1991 Ford Escort driven by an 18 year-old Renton man.

The driver and two other passengers, a 17 year-old male from Ravensdale and a 16 year-old Renton girl, were injured. Their injuries were not life-threatening, and they were treated at Valley Medical Center.

The accident happened about 10:15 PM in the 22600 block of Sweeney Road SE in unincorporated  King County east of Kent.

The vehicle was eastbound on Sweeney Road when the driver lost control coming out of a curve.  The car went sideways, sheared off a fire hydrant then rolled once before stopping against a tree.  The passenger died in route to Harborview Medical Center in downtown Seattle.

Detectives did not find any evidence of drugs or alcohol, but believe excessive speed was likely a contributing factor in the crash.
