Gig Harbor police are searching for a 21-year-old woman who has not been seen since Dec. 22.

Foul play is not suspected. Police and family members are afraid Whitney Lee Schaefer might hurt herself, and are asking for the public’s help in locating her.

She was last seen leaving her job at a Borgen Boulevard business last week. She told her supervisor she could not work overtime because she had to catch a bus to Tacoma.

Schaefer does not own a vehicle and has friends in Gig Harbor, Tacoma, Seattle and Ruston.

She is 5-feet-9-inches and 160 pounds, with brown hair in dread locks and green eyes. She was last seen wearing bluish gray jeans with faded or bleached legs, a white and black shirt with horizontal stripes, a dark overcoat, black scarf and black gloves.

Schaefer was carrying a black backpack.

Anyone with information on her whereabouts is asked to call Detective Mike Cabacungan at 253-851-2236.
