A fire gutted a 40-foot fifth- wheel recreation vehicle parked in a driveway at 4231 N. Whitman and has knocked out telephone and cable TV service to the area, Tacoma Fire reports.

The first arriving engine company found heavy smoke and flames shooting from the front of  the RV.   Crews used water and suppressing foam to knock down the fire.

Complicating the scene was the fact the fire directly impinging on the energized power lines overhead. A Fire Department  spokesman said the fire didn’t damage the power lines.

Telephone and cable TV repairs are underway, the spokesman added.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. No one was living in the trailer and no one was injured in the fire.
