Closing arguments are scheduled for this morning in the trial of three men and a woman accused of helping cop killer Maurice Clemmons last year.
The four – Rickey Hinton, Douglas Davis, Eddie Davis and Letrecia Nelson – are charged with providing medical aid, transportation and other help to Clemmons after he killed four Lakewood police officers in a Parkland coffee shop on the morning of Nov. 29, 2009.
Pierce County prosecutors have charged the defendants with rendering criminal assistance and, in some cases, other crimes.
The defendants are being tried together and, if convicted, face up to five years in prison. Their trial began Nov. 8 and defense attorneys rested their cases Tuesday morning.
Two others already have been convicted and sentenced for helping Clemmons. Another man, who’s accused of being Clemmons’ getaway driver, faces trial next year on four counts of aggravated first-degree murder.
