A Tacoma police officer was nearly ran over tonight while trying to break up a large brawl near South Yakima Avenue and South 46th Street.

The fight erupted just before 9:30 p.m. and officers responded to keep the peace.

When one of the men involved in the fight tried to leave in a vehicle, police say an officer ordered the man to put the car in park and get out.

The man instead tried to drive off as the officer was reaching inside to put the car in park and get the suspect out of the vehicle.

It is unknown how many people were involved in the brawl or what started it.

The officer was not seriously injured.

The officer showed alot of restraint in not shooting this fool.

  2. Cars edge out firearms as the killer of the police. I guess guns are just more glamorous.

Probably the officer showed thatrestrainet as the headlines ran through his mind. . . I am glad that restraint did not wind up killing the officer. Blue light on at my house.
