A mother rescued her baby this morning after the baby’s stroller went down a boat ramp and into Wollochet Bay.

Neither the baby nor the mother were injured, Pierce County sheriff’s spokesman Ed Troyer said.

The incident occurred shortly before noon in the 3300 block of East Bay Drive. The baby, who’s age was not known, was in a stroller, Troyer said.

The stroller went down the boat ramp and into the water. The mother went after the baby. Neighbors heard the mother’s screams and called 911.

The mother was able to get her baby out of the water before firefighters and deputies arrived.

“Everyone was wrapped in blankets,” Troyer said.

Troyer didn’t know why or how the stroller got away and down the boat ramp.
