Tacoma police are investigating the shooting death of a 20-year-old man who was found in his South End apartment Tuesday afternoon during a welfare check.

Investigators have no suspects and no motive for the homicide, police spokesman Mark Fulghum said. The Pierce County Medical Examiner’s Office has not released the man’s name.

The man and a woman he’s related to live in the apartment in the 7300 block of South Wilkeson Street. Family members went to the apartment Tuesday afternoon to check on the woman, Fulghum said.

The woman finally answered the door. She was OK but as family members looked around, they found the 20-year-old man dead, Fulghum said.

The relatives called police about 1:30 p.m. Tuesday. Investigators believe the man had been dead for some time.

Homicide detectives and forensics specialists were called to the scene and launched an investigation. They talked to the man’s family members and neighbors, Fulghum said.

“Neighbors reported that they had not seen anyone at the apartment since Sunday,” Fulghum said.

Detectives talked to the woman who lives in the apartment and do not believe she’s a suspect in the slaying, Fulghum said.

“The investigation is ongoing,” he said.

Something isn’t adding up here? The police go to check on the woman and find the 20 year old man dead that they think was dead for sometime? But they dont think the woman is invloved? Isn’t it a crime to not report a death in it’s self? Either TNT is not telling the full story or something is wrong with this picture.

it was not the police doing the welfare check, please read the story again. It was the girls family going to check on HER not him. According TO THE STORY the family investigated and then called 911. However, i do believe it is a crime not to report something like that, but again i do not know so do NOT quote me on it.

Hello whocares09- I DID read the story! I understand the “family” was doing a welfare check on the woman and found the man dead! As I stated SOMETHING IS NOT ADDING UP! She was just in there with a dead body? That seems really off and I know there is more to this story.
