UPDATED: Man killed in logging accident outside Buckley

A man doing logging work died this morning after a tree fell on him outside Buckley, East Pierce Fire & Rescue reported.

The accident occurred some time before 10:20 a.m. in the Hancock Forest about 12 miles east of Buckley.

Sheriff’s deputies and the Pierce County medical examiners have been dispatched to the scene.

The forest is owned by the Muckleshoot Indians and located about 11 miles up Forest Service Road 92. The man worked for Yakima-based Wyss Logging, Inc.
