Tacoma police arrested a 56-year-old man Wednesday night on suspicion of trying to lure a 3-year-old girl at a Sixth Avenue bowling alley.

The man was booked into Pierce County Jail on suspicion of child luring.

The incident occurred about 7:20 p.m. Wednesday at Tower Lanes, 6323 Sixth Ave. The girl’s father told Tacoma police that he had spotted the suspect wandering around the bowling alley, police spokesman Mark Fulghum said. The man appeared to be very intoxicated.

At one point, the father looked over and saw the suspect squatting down next to the little girl. He was telling her to come with him and that “Mommy’s in the car,” Fulghum said.

The father ran over and pushed the suspect away from his daughter. The suspect walked out of the bowling alley and across the street to a nearby restaurant. A witness followed him, Fulghum said.

The suspect was arrested a short time later at the restaurant. The girl was not injured.

  1. The West End of Tacoma used to be a great place to live and a safe place for your children !

With the Hug-a-Thug attitude of the City and Prosecutor, and the Spanish Hills Apartments this human filth flows like excrement over this part of the City !

  2. How much do you bet the suspect will either try to sue the father for ‘injuries’ due to being pushed away from the young girl, or the prosecutor’s office considers filing assault charges against the father for his ‘over-reaction’ to the nice man talking to the daughter?

  3. Props to the father of this child… its sad that as fathers (and mothers) that we have to be vigilant in keeping our kids safe..

watch your children better. why take her bowling if she is allowed to wander by herself?

  6. I do agree that people need to be watching thier children better. ESPECIALLY a three year old. Also, Im sorry but someone commented on the area BUT THIS CAN HAPPEN ANYMORE. Petophiles come in all races with all back grounds. THANK GOD he was not successful.

  7. I mean to say this can happen ANYWHERE :) dont think for one moment because you live in a certain area this can not happen.

I kinda wish there was another article written in the TNT about this. Maybe one that is better visible than the lights and sirens blog. Most people think they are diligently watching their kids, but it only takes a split second for a child to be snatched up. These circumstances need better exposure through the media to bring reminders to parents of the different methods these creeps use to lure your child. This could be an opportunity to educate your children too! Example: Have a “code” word with your child. Any person who doesn’t know that “code” is a stranger and you shouldn’t go anywhere with them.
