A Safe Streets program is hosting an event this evening for teenagers and young adults considering a job in law enforcement.

The “Get to Know the 5-0″ event begins at 5 p.m. at the Goodwill Milgard Work Opportunity Center, 714 S. 27th St., in Tacoma. It’s sponsored by the Safe Streets’ Youth Leading Change program.

The event is open to people 16 to 24 years old. There will be workshops and a panel discussion featuring representatives from several law enforcement agencies. They will describe their job responsibilities and give career preparation advice.

Among the participating agencies: the Drug Enforcement Administration, the FBI, King County Corrections, Lakewood Police Department, Tacoma Police Department and the Washington State Patrol.
