Pacific police arrested a man Wednesday after he allegedly escaped from custody during an appearance at  Pacific Municipal Court.

The incident occurred about 11:15 a.m. Wednesday, according to a Pacific police press release.  The man had been transported to the courthouse from the Regional Justice Center in Kent for a hearing.

While there, he managed to escape custody. (The press release does not specify how the man escaped.) Witnesses reported the escape to officers. They found a pair of jail sandals outside the courthouse, the department reported.

A police dog responded to the scene and apprehended the escapee a short time later. The man suffered injuries to his left arm and was taken to Auburn Regional Medical Center for treatment.
